Information: Unwanted Fat

Fat pads are localized areas of subcutaneous fat (under the skin) which affect the shapeliness of a person’s body. Too much fat in a particular area may result in contour deformities. Women tend to store unwanted fat in the subcutaneous fat of the abdomen, hips, and thighs, whereas men store it in the abdomen and their love handles. Weight loss and exercise can significantly improve a less than desirable silhouette however these alternatives are not always enough. Two treatment options are available for the reduction of subcutaneous fat.
CoolSculpting is a non invasive way to reduce pockets of fat by an average of 20%. Fat cells are cooled to the point of crystallization then carried away by the body’s natural immune system. Liposuction involves the removal fat through tiny incisions in the skin and is beneficial when larger areas of fat are targeted. In fact it is the most popular cosmetic procedure in North America. Neither of these procedures is a treatment for excess weight or obesity.
